Статья посвящена исследованию влияния загрязнения атмосферного воздуха запахами промышленных предприятий на состояние здоровья, качество жизни и возникновение симптомов различных соматических и эмоциональных нарушений у населения рядом расположенных селитебных территорий. По данным большинства исследований, выполненных за рубежом, возникновение различных расстройств опосредовано «раздражением» запахом, являющимся «предиктором» отклонений в состоянии здоровья.</p></sec><sec><title>Материал и методы</title><p>Материал и методы. Данные для настоящего исследования получены в результате анкетирования жителей города с населением около 50 тыс. жителей, проживающих на различных расстояниях от источников запахов: предприятия по производству кофе, завода по производству костной муки, сахарного завода и полигона ТБО. Диапазон расстояний от основных источников составил от 1500 м до &gt; 5 км.</p></sec><sec><title>Результаты</title><p>Результаты. Проведённый анализ показал, что загрязнение атмосферного воздуха запахом является одним из приоритетных показателей, который опрошенные жители сочли оказывающим влияние на состояние здоровья и качество жизни. По результатам опроса населения, частота и интенсивность специфических запахов в атмосферном воздухе убывают по мере удаления места жительства респондентов от источников (от 1500 м до &gt; 5 км), как и степень их «раздражения» присутствующими запахами (от 87,5 до 51,2%), оставаясь на неприемлемо высоком уровне на расстояниях свыше 5 км.</p></sec><sec><title>Заключение</title><p>Заключение. Установлено, что существует определённая категория жителей (составляющая около трети населения), склонных связывать свои проблемы со здоровьем преимущественно с состоянием окружающей среды и главным образом с наличием посторонних запахов. Указанная группа респондентов характеризуется меньшей толерантностью к запахам и одновременно большей частотой встречаемости болезней верхних дыхательных путей, аллергических, сердечно-сосудистых и некоторых других заболеваний. Можно предположить, что на степень выраженности «раздражения» наличием запаха помимо района проживания и соответственно уровня загрязнения атмосферного воздуха запахами может оказывать определённое воздействие озабоченность жителей возможным влиянием загрязнения воздуха, в частности запахами, на здоровье.</p></sec></abstract><trans-abstract xml:lang="en"><sec><title>Introduction</title><p>Introduction. The article is devoted to studying atmospheric air pollution by industrial odours on the health, quality of life, and the occurrence of various somatic and emotional disorders in the population of neighboring residential areas. According to most abroad studies, a literature review showed different conditions mediated by “annoyance” of smell, a “predictor” of deviations in health status. </p></sec><sec><title>Material and methods</title><p>Material and methods. The data for this study were obtained as a result of the survey of residents of the city with a population of about 50 thousand residents living at different distances from odour sources: coffee factory, bone meal factory, a sugar factory, and solid waste landfill. The distances from the primary sources ranged from 1500 m to &gt; 5 km. </p></sec><sec><title>Results</title><p>Results. The analysis showed that odour pollution is one of the priority factors affecting residents’ health and quality of life. The frequency and intensity of specific odours in the atmospheric air, according to the results of the survey, decrease as respondents’ place of residence is removed from sources (from 1500 m to &gt; 5 km), as well as the degree of their “annoyance” with odours (from 87.5% to 51.2%), remaining at a very high level at the farthest distances (over 5 km). </p></sec><sec><title>Conclusion</title><p>Conclusion. Besides to the area of residence and, accordingly, the level of atmospheric air pollution by odours, extent of this “annoyance” can be influenced by concern of residents about possible impact of air pollution, particularly by odours, on health. It has been established that there is a certain category of residents (making up about one-third of the population) who tend to associate their health problems with the state of the environment and, mainly, with the presence of industrial odours.
