On the 130th anniversary of the birth of Fyodor Grigoryevich Krotkov, the founder of Russian radiation hygiene

Abstract

The article is devoted to the 130^th anniversary of the birth of Academician F.G. Krotkov, the founder of Russian military and radiation hygiene, who was born in the Ryazan Region. The article analyzes Krotkov’s contribution to ensuring the sanitary and epidemiological wellbeing in the troops during the Great Patriotic War, as well as his role in creating the country’s radiation safety system during the implementation of the “atomic project.” The study is based on an analysis of Krotkov’s scientific legacy, his managerial activities, and international experience at the World Health Organization. The relevance of F.G. Krotkov’s methodological approaches for solving modern problems of preventive medicine and protecting the population from technogenic challenges is emphasized.
