Abstract

The Sun is the primary source of energy, light, and heat on planet Earth. Without solar radiation, conditions so favorable for the emergence, development, and existence of life on Earth would not exist. However, now solar activity (SA) is known to affect the body’s health and can be a factor in worsening existing cardiovascular diseases, as the cardiovascular system (CVS) is particularly vulnerable to heliogeomagnetic disturbances. At the same time, research is noted to establish a clear system of relationships between heliogeophysical phenomena and the state of the CVS remains insufficient. Data obtained by different authors may contain inconsistencies and contradictions.

The material of the study was methodological documents on socio-hygienic monitoring (SHM) and scientific reports, considering the associations between coronary heart disease (CHD), arterial hypertension, heart failure, myocardial infarction, strokes, heart rhythm disturbances – and such indicators of heliogeomagnetic activity (HMA) as Wolf number (W), geomagnetic activity indices Kr, Ar and DST, F10.7 index, solar wind speed, number of sunspots and flares.

Literature search methods: according to the CyberLeninka and PubMed databases, selective, analytical and typological.

Conclusion. In modern conditions, the importance of SGM indicators of SA and HMA as assessment criteria and evidence of their impact on CVS is increasing, since such data contribute to the adoption of measures for the prevention of CVDs dependent on SA and HMA by using heliogeomagnetic monitoring in the system of warning patients with CVD about the adverse effect of periods of high solar, space and geomagnetic activity on them.
